eLearning Courses

I’m developing courses and videos full-time for LearnQuest in 2024, and in respect of that role the only work shown here are academic exercises or work that has not been attached to an NDA or IP agreement.

eLearning Sample Modules

Agile Managment - Course Overview

Project Context: This is the first module of a course in Agile Project Management. The client wants to see mid-level complexity/cost with a clean, modern look…and they want the first module in 3 days.

Solution: I write the bones of the course with my own research, then collaborate with a SME to tune it. I choose a color palette that’s harmonious but complex, with stock images that interpret “agility” as elegance of technique.

Tools: This is a pure-Storyline flow for the 3-day sprint. If this module is approved for development, I’d use Adobe Suite to enhance the design and tighten the multimedia & animation.

How Deep is Your Work?

Project Context: An agile tech company is losing an estimated hour of work per day through “multitasking.” The CEO is a devotee of Cal Newport’s Deep Work, and wants everyone to commit to its concept and practices. The client likes photo imagery.

Solution: Creating “Brenda,” a friendly worker who’s better at Deep Work than the learner, allows them to learn from her examples. Some drag & drop sorting helps the learner differentiate shallow and deep tasks.

The short course also asks learners to make a commitment to trying their first day with Deep Work, a small step. That contract is built into the interactivity with text variables.

Tools: Articulate Storyline

Kinetic Typography & Animation

Project Context: Everyone enjoys animation. But does it help learning? Is it worth the money? Research is not conclusive: some educational animations from Sesame Street or Schoolhouse Rock stay in the mind for decades, while others fade. Multimedia principles of redundancy can collide with the numbing sense that someone is reading a text slide to you.

Solution: This approach uses music & animation to create a playful flow, so the reader reads actively.

Tools: This video showcases some of Vyond’s possibilities for kinetic typography.

Graphic Design for Education & Training

Project Context: Green Era Chicago is educating its community and stakeholders about how the biodigester process works on their campus. Their CEO needs materials that can be sent by email, print, or video to supplement presentations.

Solution: ThoseIDs produced a series of flyers that merge Green Era’s unique images with simple, engaging graphics and text.
